The INUR is supported financially and ideally by the non-profit association INUR e.V., Cologne (in foundation). The association provides the financial backbone for the INUR and is a hub for linking the institute with practice. The association will have an advisory board consisting of individuals from academia, politics, ministries, associations, the academic middle class and students, which will advise the INUR's board and directorate.

The founders' meeting was on 24 May 2022. The association's board of directors will promptly initiate the registration of the association.

The association is open to members who are willing to sustainably promote the objectives and statutory purposes of the association. The annual membership fees are not generally fixed, but are negotiated with the board and determined individually.
